1) Watching/reading anime/manga, fan art, fan fiction, and/or roleplay
I don't really need to provide pictures for this, it's very self explanatory. This is someone who has maybe just gotten into anime or this is all they have time for. Spending their spare time watching/binge watching episodes. If they have artistic talent they might doodle the characters or write fan fiction. If they are into this, role playing is quite fun. Pretending to be the anime characters in a group chat adding a whole story line as if you're writing a story with other people. I do all of these.
2) Collectibles/merchandise
This is where you have bought figurines or posters of anime. Where you have a few or so shirts or anime related merchandise. These few pictures are just the tip of the iceberg. I have a few shirts, figures, and a poster.
3) Cosplayers
These people dress up at anime characters and go to cons. They either spend too much money on the cosplay material or make it themselves. Either way it's very impressive and they are amazing. Some of these are just amazing. I went out to Halloween one year as a character from one of my favorite video games. Years ago I went out to Halloween as my favorite characters from Angel Beats!
Sasha Braus from Attack on Titan. The whole uniform set and maneuver gear is a whopping amount of money. Just the jacket is about $50 let alone the gear is nearly $200. They probably has make up on as well. Impressive, the wig is perfect and even the bread in her mouth. Perfect, kudos!
How could I not add in one of my favorite anime. Haikyuu cosplayers cosplaying as Karasuno team, the main protagonists. They are probably all wearing making up, maybe chest binders, wigs, and of course the uniforms. Depending on popularity the uniforms' prices range from $25 to $40. Even the volleyball in the picture is a replica so it probably costs a lot, even as a real volleyball.
A stunning cosplay, simple yet complex. I bet the wig took forever to style into the right position, the mask, jacket, possibly contacts, headband, and possibly make up. I don't watch Naruto but seeing this Kakashi cosplayer was amazing. Kudos!
4) The obsession really begins once you start to spend every moment of your life rapped into this. They never stop buying merchandise, never stop watching, buying more collections upon collections. I wouldn't even need to explain more, here let me show you what this turns into...
Need I go on? Body pillows, 100+ figurines, cases filled with them, posters, bed sheets, every inch covered in anime. It is not my way of life, but I am quite impressed with people who do this. How do they have so much money???
Could the obsession get any worse?? The answer is yes...
5) I'd say the final "stage" is being a NEET (Not Educated, Employed, or Training) meaning you live in your room 24/7. Now, I may be a hermit and have an obsession but I couldn't ever live life like this. Dedicating every moment to watching, reading, in my room forever. Now, not every NEET is an anime fan or a hermit but this way of life is the ultimate obsession for most fans.
What do you think about this way of life?
I hope you enjoyed my post about the anime obsession. Do you find it creepy? I can tell you right now, yes. Yes, this is quite creepy.
